Seems no matter what I do I'm running into problems moving projects back and forth between 2 computers. For instance, I have a project spread over two external drives that my assistant roughed out for me. I opened it up on my computer in avid. Copied the sequence I need to a new bin. Set my bin to display all file types. Sorted by drive. Selected all the files that were located on the drive I need to give back avid media composer 8 consolidate free my assistant.
Right clicked and selected consolidate. Chose my working drive. Clicked consolidate then came here and started writing this post while I wait. So consolidate finishes, I shut down avid. Unmount avid media composer 8 consolidate free drive for my assistant.

What am I doing wrong? Over the years Consolidate has been a fantastic tool. When I did later try to consolidate the sequence I unchecked make a new sequence so that the master clips would be relinked to the consolidated files on the new drive.
And yeah the 5 files that won't complser were Transcoded AMA files so all have. I also keep the original AMA clips by themselves in their own bin one bin per source which I close and hopefully never have to open.

I would recommend trying a couple of Media Management tutorials to get you in phase with Avids way of working. I've been making an AMA bin and an Imports bin and a sequence bin. I insert what I need on the timeline and then transcode. Another possible solution would be to relink by highlighting those 5 consolidated Clips and the sequence in your bin and then in the relink options choose "relink to slected online items". If I only have a few AMA files I transcode them early in the edit to full Quality I also keep the original AMA clips by themselves in their own bin one bin per source which I close and hopefully never have to open.
